The surgery for the port went well and she is at home resting.

A port is a small medical device placed just under the skin that connects to a large vein to make chemotherapy treatments easier and safer. This way there will be fewer needle pricks as this port can be used to give the treatment. Also, chemotherapy can damage small veins in hands and arms. This port was surgically placed on the chest. It can stay inserted throughout the entire treatment plan and allows access to a fast-flowing blood vessel so the chemotherapy drugs can disperse quickly.
